Craftsy Class Giveaway!

Hey y'all!
I have something fun (and free) to share today! I recently partnered with a fantastic website called  Have you heard of it? They offer online classes on a variety of topics- sewing, quilting, even cooking!

I decided to try their 'Mastering Zipper Techniques' class. Now, I have been sewing for a long time, but zippers are something I am not super comfortable working with. I found the class to be easy to follow and I learned a lot! The best tip- baste the zipper in with fuseable tape before you sew it in. So helpful! This is one of their free mini classes and I would highly recomend it. I decided to whip up this clutch to practice what I learned:

I used what I learned about sewing the zipper into the lining to help me.  This purse turned out much better than the last time I tried to sew a zipper!

The next class I want to take?
Design Your Own Handbag: Online Sewing Class. Doesn't that look fun?

I also think this would be a fun class:
Project Upcycle-Online Sewing Class. In this class you will learn howto take thrifting treasure and turn them into wearable pieces! How cool is that?

To win your choice of ANY of their awesome classes just click this link to get to Craftsy >>>Enter to win a Craftsy class!. Then come back and let me know which class you want to take if you win!

Giveaway closes Monday at noon EST and winner will be emailed shortly after. Please share to all your Twitter and Facebook friends!

Good Luck!!

100 Days of Happy!

Just popping in to share that I am joining the 100 Days of Happy Challenge, inspired by the folks at A Beautiful Mess. The idea to share a picture a day for 100 days of what makes you happy. Sounds very inspiring to me!

I think this quote from the website sums it up well:

I decided to join after having one of the best weekends I have had in a long time. Last year was a dud, as I have talked about before. So far 2014 has been pretty great and getting better! I am starting to feel like myself, like the generally happy person who could appreciate her life even when it, well.....sucked. I thought it would be a fun challenge and help me refocus back into a life I love. Can I find 100 things to be happy about? I am not sure.....

Follow me on Instagram and I will follow back! Leave me a comment below so we can all follow each other!

Whether you Twitter, Facebook or Instagram to share your pictures doesn't matter! Just make sure to include the hashtag:

I'll be back tomorrow to share a few Easter idea I cooked up this weekend, make sure to come back!

Free Fun Friday- The Apps Edition!

Happy Friday, y'all!  First, I have to say a big thank you for all the excitement about my new Etsy shop- all the FB messages and Tweets mean a lot! I am listing a few Easter related items this weekend....check them out here!

For this week's edition to Free Fun Friday I thought I would share a few of the iPhone apps you may not have heard of, but I used an love! All are free (except one, that is $1.99). If you want to see a few of my other favorites check out these previous Free Fun editions.

Do you have any new apps you want to share-link me up!

Sunrise Calendar (free): I use this is place of the new iPhone calendar. I think it's easier to read and is more intuative to use. And, it links up to Facebook, so I can remember events and birthdays!

Over ($1.99) and her local little sister Louisville Love (free). I like apps that are easy to use and do what they are good at. I know I have downloaded my fair share of photography apps and I hardly use them. The simplest ones are the ones that just do what they are good at and don't take up space with a ton of bells and whistles.  This dup created by a Louisville based company allows you to add text and artwork over your photos. The Over app has a variety of font, color and customizing options. Louisville Love is just Louisville themed artwork. Both are super fun options I use all the time!

Duolingo (free). I decided to brush up on my French while I was looking for a new job. This app is so much fun! It sends you a little message to practice everyday, you can test out of levels if you are not a total newbie, and they give you little badges and awards when you reach a new level! (I am easily motivated by french speaking owls, apparently ; ) ) This was one of my lessons:

I swear Duolingo can read my mind.

Lift (free): I heard about Lift on one of my favorite podcasts. It allows you to set goals and then let your community keep you accountable! Truth be told, I haven't used this app too much, I will report back and let you know how useful it was?

Quiz Up (free): Looking for a new time waster iPhone game?!? Quiz Up is like pub trivia, except you challenge your friends to specific topics one at a time. Short rounds of 6 questions on a wide variety of topics. I am killing it at 'Logos', 'Name The Color' and 'Breaking Bad'. I am getting my a** handed to me in 'Harry Potter' by my niece which is a little infuriating ; )

That's a wrap on this week- make sure to leave your favorite app in the comments!

It's a Big Day- Now OPEN on Etsy!!

It's a big day around here! I have decided to open an Etsy shop! I love making unique, one of a kind gifts for my customers and decided to expand into selling pre made items online.

I put a lot of work into the shop-lots of scheming, creating and care went into each and every piece. Not to mention, uploading and prepping the store for sales. A lot of typing, questions, editing, calculating postage.....I have learned a lot in the past two weeks!

I have decided to start with a few categories, but this is a work in progress. I hope to add more and more of what people want. I am currently selling:

In a variety of colors, styles and occasions (and a few humorous items)

I am curious to hear if these are helpful to people. Is there a market for pre made pages, ready for you to add your photos and slip into your scrapbook? I listed a few now, but this is an area I can see growing in the future!)

I know a lot of people like a colorful accent they can easily add to their store bought gift. I made sets of 5 in a variety of colors and styles. Each one is lined with white paper on the inside and comes with it's own envelope!

I made a few sets that perfectly coordinate with......

This trio might be my favorite ; ). I wanted to offer an option for people who want to send a little love to a friend having a very bad day. Everyone needs a laugh sometime, right? You'll see in the shop that I have several sets of matching tags and cards. The card sets are priced at $12, that's like getting one card for free! Add the matching tag set and save $2.50 off the bundle!! Not only do you save money, but you have a stack of tags and cards ready to go when you need them.

Each card, set, page and tag is hand made by me and one of a kind. I can absolutely do larger quantities, custom order....whatever you need! Email me and let's talk about how I can help you!

I am officially calling March my GRAND OPENING. To celebrate EVERY order between now and April 7th will get a FREE bonus card!

I hope it will be a busy weekend around here (collecting lots of orders). I hope you're weekend is fantastic! Thanks for coming by,

Winter Layouts-Studio Calico Kits

Happy Friday, y'all!

I've been busy, busy around here working on a little something I sneaked in my last post. Here's another little peek.....

Today I wanted to share a couple of layouts I made as I wrap up my 2013 scrapbook. When it comes to documenting my life, I do not feel pressure to be 'caught up' or done, but I do like to put a pin on one year before I start the book for the next year. Sometimes I go back if there was a big event like a vacation I want to get in, but for everyday stuff I tend to finish up one year and call it done. So, on a snowy day here in the KY I pulled out a kit I was gifted for my birthday and recorded two favorite memories from the holidays. Check it out:

I have my first piece of yard art, y'all! I was more excited than I should have been to get this light up Rudolph and amused myself one day by taking pictures of him in his natural habitat....... In addition to the Studio Calico December kit I added some woodgrain Thickers, washi tape and an awesome stamp from Elise Joy (unfortunately, no longer available). The SC kit is now sold out, but I linked up most of the products below if you want to recreate the same look! I loved working with it- the mix of navy, pink and gold was a fun combo and made this really easy!

You may be able to tell that I tried to stitch around the border, but sewing machine was not cooperating. Fine......whatever.I could have started over, but I decided just to embrace it and move on.

These four. They are the best!  I love watching them hang out together and having fun, makes my heart happy. I have a big group of awesome cousins and I really love watching them group up together. These pictures are from a fun weekend we spent at my brother's new home- which has an indoor pool! How cool is that? And that dog.....that is my favorite Golden named Dixie. She is the sweetest dog, I love her. And, obviously, she put herself right into the action and got a good belly rub.
Nothing too fancy here, but I did add a few bits and pieces from my Kelly Purkey December kit from Simon Says Stamp. I loved loved LOVED this kit, I can't wait to share the mini album I made with it. Maybe closer to next Christmas?

Please come back on Friday for something BIG BIG BIG! A project I have been working on full steam for a while now and I can't wait to share!!

Please click over and check out all the fun products I used today, I really appreciate all the support!
