I've Got A Secret...

... I have a little somethin' in the works. I wish I could tell you....but I can't just yet. Soon, I promise. I'll give you a hint- it involves the internet, inky hands, and lots of typing......any guesses??

On to the topic of the day. I wanted to share a couple of cards I made for a few of my favorite challenge sites. If you are a budding card maker challenge sites are a fantastic way to learn new techniques, pick up ideas and practice!

{THANK YOU RETRO}
I made this young lady to go along with the current Lawnscaping Challenge- Dust It Off

 {RAINBOW TYPE}

{HEY, HI, HELLO THERE}

Last, but not least, is this fun little number. Lots of old stamps in this one, made for the Studio Calico blog.

That's all for now, folks- stay tuned!!

Florida Mini Album

Oh boy, I am deep in the winter blahs right now. I am SO SICK of snow, wearing three layers and scraping ice. And don't get me started on that groundhog..........

But, that's not why you stopped by, right? Nobody needs to hear me bitch remind them that it's still cold outside. Instead, let's imagine it is June, we are sitting int he sun with a fruity drink in our hands.......
from BugetTravel.com
ahhh....that's better, right? Now that we are in the right frame of mind, check out a little mini book I made about a weekend trip to Florida back in September. I went  to visit a good friend and go to Universal Studios! It was a really fun 3 days and this book makes me excited to go back soon.  I linked everything I used at the bottom of the post.

Check it out:

that fabulous letterpress card is from an old Kelly Purkey kit (now sold out), and I love that the you can see through the vellum to the first picture! I love the simple title page- a little washi, letter stickers right on top of a beautiful photo...

(I am so sorry about the glare on these pictures, from some reason I couldn't get them to not shine back?) I recently picked up this stamp set from Mama Elephant and you will see it all over this book.

I also used several die cut cards from Dear Lizzy. I tucked them behind, layered them, and for one page and I made a flap to show the picture and give me a space to journal right on the back!

I love naps maps, so for the last page I just added the map right in, I like how I can look at it and imagine all the places we visited.

Thanks for stopping by! Again, all the products are linked below....I hope I inspired you! (or at least warmed you up a little!

Pin Worthy

Hey y'all!
 Hope everyone is having a good week. We have had a short break from the cold weather and boy-did we need it. Everyone around here looks drunk with Vitamin D, I think we have been deprived. In another installment of Pin Worthy I wanted to pass along a few things I have pinned lately and loved. All the links go right back to the source, not just the pin. Click over and show them some love! You can follow all my adventures on Pintrest here. Enjoy, have a fantastic weekend!

from Anonymous ART of Revolution- boy, could I use this advice sometimes.

from Add A Pinch I may have shared this before, but it is so good! I make it at least twice a month and it's a struggle not to eat all the leftovers.

from BoardByDesign on Etsy I have been looking for a way to hang my keys, something like this would be really cute by my front door!

Francine at Callaloo Soup has been offering a free 3x4 card to use for a written note or for scrapbooking.

Chicken and Chickpea Masala from Serious Eats. Doesn't this look good? I'm going to try this out next week.

Later gators,

2014- Let's Go! (Scrapbook Front Page)

Today I just wanted to share the title page for my 2014.

I was really inspired by this layout by Elise Blaha Cripe. Seriously, you should see her blog, she's crazy talented!  I got so jazzed by the quilted look, and I loved the challenge of sewing it up this way.
I am not gonna lie. This was hard, and took so much longer than necessary.  Please don't look to closely at my stitching. I just looked at what Elise did and worked on it slowly. This week she is sharing exactly how she did it on the Studio Calico blog- man, do I wish I had this when I worked on my own layout! (I did this way back in January). If you decide to do your own, take my advice and watch these videos

I think my favorite parts are the ones that are clear with some sequins or wood bits sewn in. I think they are too fun! To keep the back from looking like a hot mess I decided to cut up a single piece of paper and add that. I am so glad I did, here's a look.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope I have inspired you today! If you have any questions, leave me a comment. Have a fantastic (and warm) weekend!

Watercolor Cards Using Mama Elephant

Mama Elephant, one of my favorite stamp companies posted this challenge on their blog
I was really inspired by this challenge, some of my favorite colors! I ended up making three really pretty cards! Check it out:

{You Are Simply Wonderful}
supplies: Mr Huey's: Piglet, Silver and Boss Lady , Smitten stamp from Mama Elephant, gold and white embossing powders, sequins, Versamark ink

With this card I clear embossed the sentiment on white paper, then painted over it with slightly watered down Mr. Huey inks. To make the feather I embossed in white and gold on vellum, then cut it out. Those might be my new favorite thing. I am definitely going to do this again, I love the way it looks!

{Make My Heart Sing}

This card swirled around in my mind for a few days until inspiration hit. I liked the circular pattern of the collage and wanted to recreate it somehow. I took the arrows from the Triangles background stamp and.....cut it apart! I then mounted them on my clear block in a swirl pattern. It took a few tries to get it right, but I love love love how it looks! In case it isn't clear I used the Distress Ink and a dauber to add a little pink. Just a little pop of color.

{Let's Go On An Adventure!}

I have been saving this piece of astrology paper from AC for a while with just this kind of card in mind. I used my sewing machine to stitch out one of the constellations to make it stand out. Pretty straight forward card, but I love it!

So, that's all for today! Thanks for coming by. Friday I will be back with a very special scrapbook layout!
