Shop Talk- Derby Cards in the House!

Oh yeah, it's Derby time!

Those of us who live in the Bluegrass State know all about this 'official holiday' this '2 week party for a 2 minute horse race'. We are busy dusting off our big hats, growing mint for out juleps and enjoying a really fun season around here. In this spirit I created a few sets of cards to send to fellow Derby loving friends. Actually, these cards could be used for a variety of reasons. If you like the style, but not the Derby sentiments- no problem! I can easily take that part out and add whatever you want...hello custom notecards!!

Just click the picture to be taken over to my Etsy shop and place your order now! :

These little ladies  were inspired by my girlfriends who barely even admit to owning a baseball hat, but Derby time? They pull out the big guns. We love big, bright hats this time of year, and these fancy ladies are ready to party!

I really like this  first Fleur de Lis set because it combines some of my favorite bright colors and a graphic style that's very me. I created the background by embossing this Hero Arts background stamp over this white woodgrain paper. Then I covered it in stripes of watercolor (using my favorite Mr. Huey's as paint). Then I ironed off the clear embossing to create a flat background. That allowed me to add the fleur de lis, stitching and sentiments. Look for a bigger blog post on this next week!

This set is blank inside so easy to use for other occasions. If you don't love the Derby related sentiments on the outside-no problem! I can easily change that to sure your needs.

For The second set I took advantage of these great patterned papers with their great colors and style. They made these cards easy peasy! I diecut the fleur de lis on adhesive paper and covered in glitter. They are also blank on the inside so you can add whatever message you like! These would be great to add for a man's birthday or maybe a wedding gift?

My silks themed cards come in two unique sets. Each set includes a card in four different base colors with paper pieced jockeys and hand cut banners. I die cut all the pieces on my Silohuette and then mixed and matched them to create my little army of paper jockeys ; ) .

These cards would be PERFECT to use as invitations for your Derby party! If you want both sets (8 cards) you can save 20% by using the coupon code 'DERBYON'.
I made two sets so that you had color and style options. Looking for something similar or maybe a multiple of the same card? I do custom!!!

These little guys turned out so cute, I may have to make some for a party banner? Or maybe cake decorations?

Thanks for stopping by! I'll be back tomorrow with a bathroom remodel update......now, go SHOP!!

Free Fun Friday-Easter Addition

Happy almost Easter week PEEPS! In this addition of Free Fun Friday I wanted to pass along a sample of great, free Easter ideas I loved this year. First off, if you are local to Louisville you should check out the Frankfort Ave. Easter Parade! I hear it is quite the party. I'll be there, so please say hi if you see me! For the rest of my friends, enjoy these ideas- if you click over to the other blogs, make sure to comment and give them some love!

1. fromShe's Kinda Crafty- this is the kind of idea that can be super easy or super fancy. Kids could help, so fun!

2. this printable from 36th Avenue inspired these cards in my Etsy shop!
It also lead me down the rabbit hole (snicker) of awesome 90's hip hop:

3. these printable placemats from Somewhat Simple would make a fun table decoration!

4. My mother made a lamb cake with an old iron cake mold every Easter. This post from Simplified Bee totally reminded me of her.

5. And in the strangest use for Peeps I found this year.......why not try candy vodka?

Like this post? Check out more Free Fun Friday ideas here!

Thanks for stopping by! I have big exciting plans for the weekend- Season 2 of Game of Thrones and cleaning! I know, you're jealous about the last part, right? I also need to find myself a fish fry. Am I the only one who craves fried fish only during Lent?

Have a great weekend!

Shop Talk- Butterfly Dream Mini Book

Happy Monday! I wanted to quickly share something I just added to my Etsy shop. I have made books like this for most of my friends and family who were expecting babies. It is just a simple mini book you could easily add pictures of your favorite little one. This could be a great, easy gift for a new parent, an aunt/uncle or best-friend!

Personally, this kind of project is most fun for me to create. I love taking a pile of papers, ribbons and 'stuff' and mixing and matching them into a book. I love love how this little book turned out! Just for fun I made a little Flipgram of how it all came together. I'm slowly trying to learn how to make little videos with my iPhone, I know I am late to the bandwagon....

I hope that someone will enjoy giving this gift as much as I enjoyed making it. If you have any questions, please leave me a comment!

Later,

Michelle
