Happy Belated Birthday!

To my Dad!

With all the craziness of the ice storm, I forgot to post this yesterday. Happy Birthday Tom Bazeley!

So, Louisville has been covered for the week by about 4 inches of snow and an inch of ice. Many of my friends lost power, but luckily I escaped that problem. I have been stuck in my apartment and the effects of boredom are slowly sneaking in. Take a look at this:

You know you are bored when you start dressing up your cats =)

Beavis is modeling a new scarf I finished while in exile. It's the crochet version of a chevron pattern. I used some yarn I had left over from a blanket and searched the Internet to find a pattern. I am terrible at reading complicated patterns, so I was pleasantly surprised to find this one so easy to adapt for my own needs. Here it is:

-First you want to plan a few details: How wide you want your scarf, how many V's you want across and how long you want each side of the 'V' to be. My scarf is about 9" wide, has 2 1/2 'V's', and each side of each V is 5 stitches.

- I chain stitched 30 stitches, I realize that math is not exactly right, but follow along:

- DC 5, *then DC3 in the same stitch, DC 5. That makes the up part of the first V.

- skip 2 stitches, then DC 5* . By skipping 2 stitches, you create the under side of the V.

- repeat instructions between the * all the way across. Then turn and repeat exactly until you get the desired length.

I have also been amusing myself with LOTS of craftiness, especially of the pink and red variety. I have a few people in my life who will get valentines, and this week I found tons of inspiration on the web. Here's a few you should check out:

Celeste Smith- she has a GREAT blog for inspiration. She finds great projects. Check this one out.

Martha-you want to hate her, but you don't. You know she has great ideas!

I am making these for some kids I know:

This one I am going to alter for some of my peeps in Illinois:

And, do you have a bunch of leftover, broken crayons lying around?

Maybe I should have been more specific

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a snow day, and I did ask for one. However, this particular winterstorm has decided to arrive during what was going to be a more than average week.

Tonight (Tuesday) was supposed to be the night that my friend Torrie and I cash in on her mystery Christmas present. I had surprised her with vague clues that were going to lead to some super fun. See:

Tommorow, I was heading up to Cincy with another friend Lisa to see Xavier play Charlotte. Actually, this game happens to be the day before Tom Bazeley's birthday, and we were going to celebrate.
Look how excited Lisa was:

Instead, we got 4 inches of snow and hours of ice and sleet last night. That pretty much spells doom for me and my wheelchair, so I have been home all day. I pouted for about three hours about not getting to do what I planned, but then I tried to make the most of the situation. I pulled out the supplied and started gettin' crafty. I finished up a rad scarf with a new pattern I got online. I will post pictures and the pattern tommorow for anyone interested. I made a few LO's for my scrapbook. And I spent WAY too much time on Facebook.
Tommorow I am going to try and stay busy, and maybe venture out around dinnertime. Are you snowed in? If so, here are a few internet gems to help pass the time. Enjoy!

{CHA SNEAK PEEKS} This message board is SERIOUS eye candy for all my scrappy friends

{THIS KID ROCKS} you have to admire his courage

{TRUE WORDS} about the Facebook hysteria. So guilty. In the past 24 hours I have learned more '25 Facts' about my FB friends. Don't know what I am talking about? Look at mine here

{COOL WALL TREATMENT} I want to do this in my apartment above my sofa

{APARTMENT THERAPY} My new favorite time waster. A lot of really good decorating ideas.

*Enjoy the snow!*

Finding all sorts of little reasons to take pictures on my way to Project 365. Here are a few goodies:

{INAUGURATION DAY-I was glued to the internet and TV all day}

{BOO BOO-I broke my big toe seeing this show-totally worth it. Great show}

{LAUNDRAMAT-been spending way too much time here, since my dryer is broken. I am having flashbacks (and hives) of my last apartment and the three years I had to go to the 'mat every two weeks}

Snow, where are you??

I can't believe I am saying this, but I am actually anxious for a little snow. I need a snow day, I am not sure why. Maybe because my mind is on skiing at Mad River Mountain in a few weeks (yeah!) ...

Been busy busy around here.

I want to tell you about the MOST amazing bath products that I stumbled upon recently, in a gift bag. I am kind of a snob when it comes to bath product. I have dry, sensitive skin, and so most products dry me out. Also, I am very pick about scents. I really can't stand the way some flowery or super fruity bath products smell. But, I LOVE a good bubble bath. I was skeptical when I got a gift basket recently with bath products in it. But I gave them a try.

Oh man, it was the best bath of my whole life!!

a line of products that are handmade, you can get them on their website or at a counter they have at Macy's in Oxmoor Center.

The hand lotion, called Smitten, small like coconut almond wonderful and makes even my terribly dry hands super smooth.

The vanilla bath bomb made my whole bathroom smell wonderful and my skin felt like you will

One last thing. I am a big fan of good customer service. I try to treat srvicepeople with good will and politeness and I expect the same in return. The bottle of Smitten that came in my set had a broken pump. I took it to Macy's to see if by any chance they could replace it. I wasn't that irritated by it, but figured I would ask. The woman there was so sweet and apologetic. She was not able to replace (that size is not available anymore), but, for my trouble, she gave me a whole bag of bath samples (YEAH! MORE BUBBLE BATHS!) While there I didn't purchase anything else, but I will be back. It has tons of great products and every thing is handmade and natural.

Go but it-now! Than dust off the old rubber ducky =)

About three months ago I paid $62 for a single ticket for a show that everyone I know has called amazing. Saturday was the day. I had my ticket, I had my friends, and I was dressed to the nines (however, I had to amend my wardrobe due to the flight of stairs I had to climb to get to my seats).

Wicked did not disappoint. So good!!! Amazing costuming, choreography, and special effects, to name a few of the high points.

Go see it-now.

Pretty Wicked Ladies

Yes, we were in the VERY back row. But at least we were in the center. =)

A Very Royal Birthday, Indeed

This girl is turning eight today. That makes it her royal birthday, and therefore she is going to have the best year of her life. A few things about the birthday girl:

- she shares her birthday with Elvis Presley, and I am pretty sure she has no idea who that is.
- she celebrated her birthday by getting her ears pierced, and she told me it didn't hurt a bit
- she has touched a shark and after watching the Discovery Channel's documentary about them, may become a marine biologist.
- she is an AWESOME cook. Trust me, I have eaten her hard work.
- she is one crafty chick, just like her Aunt Michelle and her Grandma Bazeley.

Happy Royal Birthday, Suze!

Happy Chinese Food New Year & Project 365

* Happy 2009 *

Have you made your resolutions? Have you broken them yet?

This year, I will make resolutions, but I am not sharing those. What I want to tell you about is a fun new project to make your new year a little more reflective, creativem, and thoughtful.

I read about this first on this blog. The idea has caught on and there are sites being set up all over the web. Basically, you want to take one picture a day, for 365 days. You could even do a couple for a week, or even one a week. The idea is to visually document your life, for one year.
Don't just take posed pictures or holiday pictures. But pictures of everyday life. Your coworkers, your car, your kids, your freinds, your favorite local spots, anything that makes your life unique.
May sound like a lot of work, but he idea is it will become a part of you living your life. It will fit nicely into whatever pattern you set up. Wouldn't it be nice to have a record of all those funny, everyday things that will experience this year? I also plan to record progress. Progress on my resolutions, things will imrove over the next year. 30 years from now that stuff will be fun to look back on.
Now before my non-scrapbooking freinds roll their eyes and think this is another of those 'crafty, cutesy, scrapbook' projects, it doesn't have to be. You can compile the pictures however you want. A video, a photo collage, a photo book you create online, whatever works for you. I will probably put mine in a photo album with a journal for each week.
There is a kit out there you can buy to put your pictures together. You can see it here. Maybe take that idea and make it work for you.

I decided to start on New Years Eve and go till December 31st of this year. You have seen picture number one, I like to call it 'A Chinese Food New Years;.

Day 2:

This is the view from the drivers seat of my Malibu. I look at this scene ALOT. TOO MUCH sometimes, so I thoguht I should document it. You will notice my cell phone perched at the ready, my GPS (mounted on my new Christmas present-thanks Dad and Dominica!), and my chair in the passenger seat. Ad, of course my necklace hangig from the rearview ready for a party.

This ran a close second:

(the door of the ladies room at Old Chicago Pizza-pretty funny)
