Summer Sad

I was going to start a line of posts about summer obsessions, summer plans, etc...but I have to pause today and make a little post about someone who was a big time part of my childhood.

As many of you know now Michael Jackson died earlier today from a heart attack. Quite a shock and very unexpected. I know people have mixed feeling about his personal life but today I choose to remember something nice. Many memories are linked to Michael Jackson songs.

When I think of MJ, I think of:

- my friend Leah
- 'Thriller' at the drive in
- sparkly white gloves and boys trying to do the moon walk
- 'Billie Jean', one of my FAVORITE songs as a kid.

He was one of a kind, not easily duplicated, and inspired so much of the music you hear now.
Thriller Pictures, Images and Photos

My favorite:

And a really good remake featuring John Mayer (my friend Leah will be outraged I am including this =), love that girl)
BEAT IT-Fall Out Boy ft. John Mayer

What was your favorite MJ song? I'd love to hear!

Thanks for walking down memory lane with me...

Summer Projects

Hey there, long time, no see. Summer is busy (and hot!) around here. In my continued mission to use up some of my stash, I challenged myself to complete a birthday gift and several cards I needed. I am so proud of myself- I may have to celebrate by shopping! =):

For my Dad. He thought it was very funny. The inside says 'pretending you love soap on a rope'.

(supplies: American Crafts paper, rickrack, printed sentiment on white cardstock)

Seriously used up lots of bits and pieces on these cards. And, I want to use a smallish piece of cardstock for both bases, so one is horizontal, one is vertical. Might have looked better to have both horizontal, but really, who will notice? I try to keep that attitude when making cards for people. In the long run it is much more important that you took the time to make someone a card than it does that it is super perfect.

Put this matching card and gift tag set together from the Lovebirds set from SEI. SOOOOO cute!

Seriously used up a bunch of little bits and pieces and a really cute set of printed twill tape. I seen a lot of stamping on fabric projects lately, makes me want to try it some more...

Using My Stash for the Common Good

Like many scrappers out there I have WAY too much stuff! My living room closet is overflowing so when I needed a graduation present, a shower present, and a fathers day card I told myself to use what I had before shopping for more supplies.

The first project is a 'Freshman Journal' for a friend of mine who will be going away to college this fall. I hope she will enjoy filling this mini book with lots of special first year memories. (in interest of full disclosure, the paper and journalling spots came from prize package I won from this blog. WOO HOO):

Thanks for looking, more soon!
