Dawn at the Downs

Yesterday I went to one of my FAVORITE Derby activities- Dawn at the Downs.

My friend Lisa, her son,his friends and me got up very early to watch horses workout on the track. You can get right up on the rail and sometimes even pet the horses. If you go during Derby week you get to see some of the Derby Horses do their workout. I couldn't tell you from the pictures which horse is which, but in person you can see their names on the silks they are wearing.

Yesterday we were only there for a half an hour before it started to rain, but we still managed to see alot of horses and get some great pictures.

And last night I made a card for my favorite rockstar who has a birthday at the end of the month:

(supplies:Piggy Tales paper, adhesive studs, Target gem, Making Memories alphabet, guitar cut from Silhouette)

Work will officially be postponed for the next week..

As Louisville celebrates her very own holiday: The Ky Derby. My Derby began Friday night at the Balloon Glow. WOW. What a beautiful evening. Enjoy this:

I won't actually be in Louisville for Derby Day this year, as I have been invited to see these two in Springfield. Young Suzie is going to be making her first communion. Seems impossible to me as she is only 3 years old, right??? *SNIFF*

Happy Sunday!!

The seven words I can't hear enough

Two weeks ago a little event called Creating Keepsakes Convention came rolling into town. I have never been to an event like this, and I wanted to make the most of it. Some may say I went a little overboard, but I think that is a matter of perspective. You be the judge.

took a few classes to create cards and minibooks (the Piggy Tales mini book class was definitely a favorite)

I shopped (and only went slightly over my budget)

I spent the evening scrapping with someone who is quickly becoming my favorite scrappy friend-my sister in law Ann Marie. This is her watching people sing to win a new Cricut:

and.....I won a nifty little prize package (including $100) from placing 3rd in the card contest and 1st in the Simple layout contest. Look how happy $100 has made me.

(my t-shirt says 'it's all fun and games until someone loses an eyelet --*snicker* scrapbook humor)

More soon. I have lots to share-pictures, weddings, Easter........

And the seven words I can't hear enough.....

'You are going to be an aunt!'
My brother Dave and his wife Beth are having a baby!!! I am so happy for them, they will be fantastic parents!
