Free Fun Friday-Inspiration Edition

Hey peeps!

For this edition of Free Fun Friday, I wanted to share a little inspiration for all your New Years resolutions (you ARE keeping your resolutions, right??). I have been Pinning lots of great quotes recently that I have thought of here and there when I need inspiration. Many of these are printables, so you can them out and put them somewhere that will inspire you (I Have one in my bathroom, so I see it every morning).

Check it out:

and this little nugget of wisdom that I look at every morning:

Thanks for stopping by, hope you have a fun (and warm!) weekend!

Pinky Swear

For the new year I made my own list of 'resolutions'. Nothing over the top or life changing, but things I want to accomplish this year:

1. Finish 3 quilts (gifts for people I love)
2. Save (undisclosedamount). I want to start my nest egg for my next big trip.
3. Take a cooking class.
4. Update my Heritage Album, an album I started years ago with family history stuff in it.
5. Take a new class at the gym. And try it more than once.
6. host a goetta brunch
7. Paint/make something to hang on the wall of my condo.
8. Read 6 non-fiction books. Starting with this one
9. Go to a new thrift/antique store in the area.
10. Take a road trip.
11. Finally redo my bathroom. Something I've wanted since I moved in almost two years ago.
12. Learn how to make my Grandma's noodles.
13. Take part in one new Derby Festival event.

So, there's my goal for this year......out there in cyber space for everyone (ok, 30 or so people) to see! Leave me a comment and share one of your resolutions!

New Stamps = New Cards

Hey y'all!

Just a quick post to share a couple of cards I made for the current challenge at A Blog Named Hero. The theme was 'New Year, New You', I recently acquired some new goodies from Freckled Fawn and Two Peas and this was the perfect reason to open them up! I tried to link up all the supplies, in addition to another great blog that inspired me to try a new stamping technique. Sorry if the picture look a little dark or off color, it has been gray and dark here anytime I wanted to snap a picture.

Thanks for stopping by!

I banked this idea from Britta Swiderski's blog to use when I wanted to try something new. The basic technique is this: Take a large background stamp. Stamp in one color, turn 180 degrees and stamp in another color. It gives a more layered look. I'm not describing it very well....go over to Britta's blog-she's the expert. For this card I stamp the same tartan background stamp in: royal blue, purple, and pink. Then I channeled my inner Amy Tan and stitched a heart in the corner with baker's twine.

I'm not gonna lie-I'm kind of in love with this card. Actually, I am in general a fan of anything with pink and orange together. I never wear that in real life, but I LOVE it in the crafty world. I used the same technique as the last card, but just two colors this time. I also played around with my bakers twine, braiding it friendship-bracelet style before adding it to the card. Lastly, that sentiment came from a new company called Mama Elephant. I am already a HUGE fan, so you will will see them again!

supplies: Dots&Lines Hero Arts Stamp, pink/orange/yellow twine, Studio Calico wood accent, Mama Elephant Good Times stamp, pink Versaink, Orange Hero Arts chalk ink,Glossy Accents, cardstock

This card is earmarked for my niece, she turned 12 yesterday! I don't think she ever reads my blog, so it will still be a surprise ; ). I thought the paper and the wooden accents just screamed 'pre-teen'. This card was super easy, but I super love the way it turned out!

supplies: Sentiment stamp-Studio Calico, wood accents- Studio Calico, Freckled Fawn, glitter tape-American Crafts, patterned paper-Studio Calico

2012 In Review

Happy New Year y,all!

I have been meaning to pop in here for two weeks now. January is already moving WAY too fast, or is that just me? I have a lot of big plans for 2013, but I like to put he previous year in the books before looking forward. There's something about starting a new calendar, a new to do list, and new set of priorities that is very therapeutic for me. I was looking through pictures from the past year and I thought I might share some highlights. Some good, some not so good, some huge, some small-2012 was an interesting year. Not necessarily one I wish to repeat, but hey- that's what to new year is for! So, in no particular order, here's a little recap of events that stand out from the past year:

I also.... ate at a lot of great restaurants, increased my scrapbook business, discovered Downton Abbey, did some great thrifting, and took WAY too many self portraits of me holding some kind of beverage.

Here's to a great NEW YEAR!
