Hey y'all!
Just a quick post to share a couple of cards I made for the current challenge at A Blog Named Hero. The theme was 'New Year, New You', I recently acquired some new goodies from Freckled Fawn and Two Peas and this was the perfect reason to open them up! I tried to link up all the supplies, in addition to another great blog that inspired me to try a new stamping technique. Sorry if the picture look a little dark or off color, it has been gray and dark here anytime I wanted to snap a picture.

I banked this idea from Britta Swiderski's blog to use when I wanted to try something new. The basic technique is this: Take a large background stamp. Stamp in one color, turn 180 degrees and stamp in another color.It gives a more layered look. I'm not describing it very well....go over to Britta's blog-she's the expert. For this card I stamp the same tartan background stamp in: royal blue, purple, and pink. Then I channeled my inner Amy Tan and stitched a heart in the corner with baker's twine.

I'm not gonna lie-I'm kind of in love with this card. Actually, I am in general a fan of anything with pink and orange together. I never wear that in real life, but I LOVE it in the crafty world. I used the same technique as the last card, but just two colors this time. I also played around with my bakers twine, braiding it friendship-bracelet style before adding it to the card. Lastly, that sentiment came from a new company called Mama Elephant. I am already a HUGE fan, so you will will see them again!

This card is earmarked for my niece, she turned 12 yesterday! I don't think she ever reads my blog, so it will still be a surprise ; ). I thought the paper and the wooden accents just screamed 'pre-teen'. This card was super easy, but I super love the way it turned out!
