On The Spot-Embossed Cards

Just a drive-by post to share cards I made for a couple of online challenges. The current A Blog Named Hero challenge to make an embossed card. I pulled out my Bug friend and decided to do a little experimenting.

I decided to create basically the same design with different techniques. I based the cards on this challenge sketch from Lawnscaping Challenges I have this stamp from Hero Arts and this dotted embossing plate. I had a pile of white paper scraps and used mists, inks, etc. to color them. I had mixed results, but I learned a few things along the way...

I am totally in love with the ombre look that is popular lately. I saw this card where Kristina used several colors of embossing powder to create a rainbow. I only have basic powders, so I went with it and used black, silver and white. I then rubbed pink ink over the top and splattered it with a few flecks of water. I think in person it looks kind of 80's acid washed. I recently got a new order of washi tapes from Two Peas.....and I have used them on everything.

I wondered how it would look to emboss patterned paper, and I think I really like it. I've had this little scrap of purple forever, and it looks a little different with the texture. p.s. purple/gray/tan might be my new favorite color combination.

Same thing here. I wanted to see how a brighter pattern would look embossed. I think I like it better on the more subtle pattern, but these colors look great together, so overall I am very happy with it.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I LOVE the banner and sentiments stamps, I love the colors and how they play off the neutral background. But, I think the embossed part looks a little...I don't know, too grungy? Not sure why. Anyhoo, for this one I dry embossed a piece of white and then sprayed it with two colors of Mr. Huey's.

She is my favorite. I love the colors, the dreamy look of the embossed piece with the text background. I love the wood piece (which is a thin piece of veneer that I die cut on My Bug. Oh, and the washi tape ; ). I wet embossed the dots in white, then rubbed pink, coral and yellow inks over the top. I more clothes than I care to admit in these colors, I love them!

I love her too-obviously. This time I dry embossed the white cardstock this time, I LOVE this look! I will definitely do this again

I used a similar technique as #6 here, just with different colors.
Thanks for stopping by, I'll come back later to link up the supplies I used, but I need to post this up by the deadline!!

Later,
